- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp jaggery
- 1 tsp Salt as per your taste
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- As required Green coriander leaves for garnishing

- Firstly, wash and soak chana dal for 1 hour. & cut the bottle gourd in cubes. Now, combine bottle guard and chana dal in a pressure cooker & cook it for 3-4 whistles. And keep aside.
- Heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds when it crackle after adding asafoetida and saute well in medium flame. Then add garlic paste & saute well till its raw smell is gone.
- After that add tomato paste and combine well for few minutes. Further add turmeric, salt, red chilli powder, cumin-coriander powder, garam masala, jaggery & lemon juice and mix well.
- Now add bottle gourd-chana dal mixture and cook all the ingredients for 2-3 minutes. And stir occasionally. At last, garnish it with green coriander leaves.
