- 150 g dhuli moong dal
- to taste Salt
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- as needed Water covering an inch above the dal
- For tempering
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 tomatoes chopped
- 5-6 garlic cloves
- 2 fresh green chillies slit
- 1-2 dry red chillies
- As per taste Salt
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 pinch Hing
- as required Chopped coriander
- 1 tbsp oil
Steps to make to make Dhuli moong ki dal
- Heat a pan. Dry roast dal for 2 minutes. Do not over roast.As you get an arina. Switch off.
Now wash the dal nicely. Strain the extra water. - Next in a pressure cooker, put dal, salt, water. Pressure cook till 2 whistles. Let it cool.
Next place a pan, heat oil. Splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds,add garlic cloves, chopped onion, fresh green chillies and dry red chilli. Dust hing. Saute till onions turn brownish. - Next add chopped tomatoes. Add salt as needed, turmeric powder, coriander powder. Keep flame slow. Cook till tomatoes and mushy. Mash mix.
- Now add into the tempering, boiled moong dal. Mix well. Add chopped coriander leaves. Mix again.
- It's ready... serve hot with steaming hot rice...
